#510 Prince - 1999

The last Prince album to review is the first Prince album I owned. A prolific artist, Prince had already released four albums prior to this one, at the age of 24. Even though he was already experiencing some success and starting to get noticed, 1999 really put him on the path to stardom. Released as a double album, and clocking in at 70 minutes, it is solid from start to finish. The Hits 1999 and Little Red Corvette would be his first two commercial hits with Little Red Corvette reaching number 6 on the Billboard charts. Another important feature of the album is, while not official, his band The Revolution, it the back up band on the album and the subsequent tour, leading to their involvement with Purple Rain, the biggest album of his career.

BTW prior to his death Prince wouldn't allow any videos to be uploaded to YouTube. Since his death his family has created an official YouTube channel for his videos it you want to check it out.
