#577 Peter Gabriel - So

Another great album by Peter Gabriel. He has become an artist that I really enjoy listening to. The songs are really great, and while the 2 hits, and they were really huge hits, are kind of commercial and geared towards radio, the rest of the album is very thoughtful, and I think he is a very underrated singer. Such a great voice.

A couple of days ago it was Paul Simon's Graceland. It beat this one for the Grammy for Album of the Year. No way it was better than this one.

Great videos for the singles

#265 The Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street

Could this be the last Rolling Stones album. I feel like there have been sooo many of them. I have had my fill that's for sure. If it is the last, it had to be a double album just to drag it out. Not much different than the others really.

#576 Paul Simon - Graceland

I have never listened to this album before, however I had it in my mind that it was a huge album for Paul and for that reason it must have been really good. I mean "You Can Call Me Al" was a huge song when it came out. I have enjoyed other albums of his, they are usually pretty mellow and this one is not a lot different from that formula, however the songs were not really that good and really the hit song was about the only stand out. Wow just looking up the album on wikipedia and it won album of the year. Definitely not that good of an album.

#330 Brian Eno - Another Green World

Another Brian Eno, mostly instrumental songs, with one or two with singing. Not terrible but not anything worth listening to either.

#858 The Divine Comedy - A Short Album About Love

I liked this album. The band falls into the genre of chamber pop which means that the music they create is very full, with a lot of melodies and textures. Often times the songs include the use of orchestral type instruments including horns and large string arrangements. Because of this I really was drawn into the music first and then the message of the songs. It was a pretty great album.

#805 The Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie & the Infinite Sadness

Not many bands will attempt a double album. Mostly because it is difficult to produce that man songs to make the album good from start to finish. This album is one of the good ones. It starts out with an orchestral instrumental and then flows from hard hitting rock songs to airy ballads to pop hits. A couple of the songs are weak, but for a 28 songs album for it to be only a couple songs it's pretty impressive. It really pushed the band into superstar status, and produced some of the bands best songs.

#130 The Rolling Stones - Beggars Banquet

Still don't love the band. There were two songs on this album that were pretty good, but other than that I didn't connect with the others. Just can't imagine liking this album enough to want to listen to it more than once.

#1000 Antony & The Johnsons - I Am a Bird Now

Most of the albums that I have listened to so far have fallen in the range of o.k. Some good parts, some bad, but for the most part just average. A small percentage have been amazing and a small percentage have been terrible, just garbage, not worth your time listening to. This album falls in the later. Beyond terrible vocals and lyric writing. The Vocals are not good to start with and then to top it off they warble on pretty much every word. It is intolerable

#688 Crowded House - Woodface

While Crowded House recorded 5 or 6 albums while they were a band, and were quite popular in the late 80's to early 90's I'm not sure that I can say that they are any more than a greatest hits band. Don't get me wrong, they have recorded a number of really good songs, I just don't feel like their material is strong enough to put together an album that is solid from start to finish. This album has two of their best songs on it, but the rest was average at best.

#574 Metallica - Master of Puppets

From their earlier albums, this being their 3rd, this one is really where I feel that they have been honing their craft and getting to the point where they could come up with their next album, And Justice for All, which is simply amazing. Listening to this album, you can hear how good the band is getting. I know some fans felt like their first 3 albums were their best and Justice was just too commercial and was kind of a sell out for the band. But in my opinion this is when they are hitting their stride and are at the height of their game. Just make sure and turn it up loud.

#71 the Kinks - Face to Face

While I could tolerate the music on the album, it was ok, but not great, the lyric writing was just plain bad. All of the songs were amateur at best and the addition of sound effects, rain in one song and waves in another, just did not work.
