If you can put aside all of the things that Jackson was accused of, all of his eccentricities, all of his weird medical issues and only evaluate him based on his music, I think most people have to admit that he was one of the most talented artists ever to come along.
Bad was the follow up to his huge monster hit album Thriller. There was no way anyone could have ever come out with an album that was going to live up to the hype of that. The expectations for Bad were just too high. He did, however, give it a good go and Bad is actually a pretty good album. Unlike Thriller, which pretty much every song was a hit single, Bad did have some weak spots on it, songs like "speed demon" and "Liberian girl" but it also had some amazing songs like "dirty Diana", "the way you make me feel" and "smooth criminal".
Overall I think this was a pretty good album, perhaps his last good album. 4/5
