Incubus is a band out of California that formed in 91' and had some, actually a lot of success with third third, this album, and their fourth album, both of which I really like. The blend alt-rock with metal with funk with hip-hop beats, and it really works. The combination of music style along with some great song writing makes for some really catchy tunes.
"Pardon Me"
"Stellar"
"Drive"
BTW life is really busy right now so I'm gonna be taking a short break from this. Hopefully I'll be back at it around mid-march
Tomorrow's Album #573 Megadeth - Peace Sells ... But Who's Buying?
The second album by Pulp that I have listened to and again it was pretty good. Still not anything that I would listen to on a regular basis but glad I listened to it. Some good rock with a singer that sounds like David Bowie. Nothing to complain about there.
As a fan of the Pet Shop Boys, I think this album is pretty good but not great. Which is probably not the common opinion among their fans.In fact it is their only album that has reached #1 in the UK. It does have a couple really good songs on it but in my opinion it is the first album of theirs that isn't great all the way through from start to finish, and every album since this one has been the same, some really good songs with some filler for the rest of the album.
A great album that totally encompasses everything that a 80's hair band rock album should be. From the opening of the first track with it's classic 80's rock synth to a couple of rock ballads this album is great from start to finish. In my opinion the band never made anything as good as this again, in fact not many rock albums are better.
"You Give Love a Bad Name"
"Livin on a Prayer"
"Wanted Dead or Alive"
Tomorrow's Album #33 Stan Getz & Charlie Byrd - Jazz Samba
This album was terrible, just terrible. I don't know what it is that the band was trying to do or even for that matter what kind of music this even is. In my opinion it is just kind of thrown together noise.
"There's Always Room on the Broom"
Tomorrow's Album #571 Bon Jovi - Slippery When Wet
Another great album by Bob Marley. I have really come to enjoy listening to the reggae albums on the list. Mostly because they are so mellow. They are a great way to relax.
"Baby We Got a Date"
Tomorrow's Album #986 Liars - They Were Wrong, So We Drowned
Another great album by The Boss. Originally recorded on as demos that he would then record with his band. However that never happened and Bruce decided to record them and release it as a solo album, which just happened to be regarded as one of the best in his catalog.
"Atlantic City"
Tomorrow's Album #271 Bob Marley & The Wailers - Catch a Fire
This just might be the Beatles most popular album. I would guess that most everyone has heard of it and some of the songs on it, especially the title track. I really quite like it. As I have mentioned before I didn't like the Beatles before listening these albums but they have grown on me. I still wouldn't choose to listen to them but I can definitely say that I can appreciate their place in music history.
"Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"
Tomorrow's Album #499 Bruce Springsteen - Nebraska
I know that Kings of Leon became really popular a couple albums after this one, and have been able to sustain that for the 8 or 9 years, which is great for them. I haven't really liked them all that much, and listening to this album it reaffirmed why I don't like them. The vocals are just plain bad.
"The Bucket"
Tomorrow's Album #763 G Love & Special Sauce - G Love & Special Sauce
I remember back in the late 80's that The The had a hit song that I really liked but for the life of me I do not remember that name of it, or the album that it was on. I have tried many times since then to find it but no luck so far, and it didn't end up being on this album.
While that is the case it was still a pretty decent album. Definitely not a mainstream album by any stretch but good enough to warrant a listen. He is vocals are really pretty good and kind of reminds me of Underworld's singer.
"This is the Day"
Tomorrow's Album #985 Kings of Leon - Aha Shake Heartbreak
The third and final album by the band on the list and it is another great one. I have truly enjoyed all of their albums so far and am glad that I was able to find them while listening to these albums. Of the three that I have listened to I would rank them 1. Ocean Rain (1984) 2. Porcupine (1983) and 3. Crocodiles (1980). They obviously got better over time.
A industrial, neu-metal, electronic band from Yugoslavia, Laibach is a combination of Nitzer Ebb, Ministry, Sisters of Mercy and a bit of Depeche Mode thrown in for good measure. Musically the album was awesome. I really enjoyed it. I had a hard time with the vocals for two reasons, his voice is very odd, and most all the songs were in Yugoslavian. Totally the type of music you would hear at a Nazi rally however, or maybe a Trump Rally :)
"How the West Was Won"
"Sympathy for the Devil" - In 1989 the band covered The Rolling Stones song and it actually got quite popular. It was my first exposure to the band.
Tomorrow's Album #459 Echo & The Bunnymen - Crocodiles
An alt-rock band out of England, they only ever recorded this one album, which is kind of weird since they were a band from 83-92. You'd think in that time that you would be able to come up with at least 2 albums worth of material. The album was pretty decent and the hit song on the album, while I didn't know who sung it, was quite popular.
